I was lucky enough to do an astrology reading for identical twins. A great opportunity to research the effects of a small difference in birth time on personality.
Identical twins share the same genetical make up and upbringing (when they grow up in the same home). Both nature and nurture are almost 100% similar. Only their times of birth at first will differ. For an astrologer this is very interesting: is it possible to draw conclusions on the character and the life course of identical twins based on differences in time of birth? After all, while the minutes tick away, houses, Ascendent and Midheaven will change as well as maybe the placements of stars in the houses.
In the case of predictive astrology a different time-path of transits and secondary progressions through the houses (as a result of the different time of birth), can also make a big difference in the lives of the twins.
Read below how just a 12-minute difference in time of birth had a significant impact on the personality and life path of two identical twin sisters.
Two twins. Not Gemini, but real identical twins, born 12 mins apart. Their stars are all in the same sign and position except their Moon (is in a different house). They shared the same upbringing and genetic makeup, but their personalities and approach to life happiness varied enormously.
Twin A (the 2nd born 12 minutes later) focused from an very early age on, on becoming a wealthy entrepreneur – and she succeeded. She derived her motivation came from the fact her family hade moved from a wealthy suburb to a very small, rural town where she was snubbed by her peers. She swore ‘revenge’ by becoming a rich and successful business woman. At school she was intent on setting herself apart from the others by wearing only expensive designer labels and to ease the pain of feeling left out.
Her sister Twin B (first born) after the move immediately adopted the dialect and tried hard to fit in. She succeeded in becoming quite popular with her classmates. Later in life she became ‘strange’ in the eyes of her family when she discovered breath work and its healing effects. Breath work became her passion and purpose in life.
So for twin A happiness and safety is about wealth and success. While her sister twin B needed popularity in early in life and later on spirituality and ‘air’ to feel safe and content. Let’s say: Gold (twin A) versus Air (twin B). Two completely different substances as a metaphor for their approaches to life. All stemming from a 12 minute difference in time of birth. How can we explain that?
We the differences life path of reflected in their house positions. These changed during the 12 minutes difference in time of birth.
For both twins, Chiron is on cusp of the third house: the ‘wound of words’ signifying the difficulties both had during their early school days and with each other as siblings (3rd house).
For twin A (the ambitious one), Part of Fortune (which signifies where you will find happiness in life) is on the cusp of her second house (signifying security, wealth and all possessions). For twin B (the pleaser) however, Part of Fortune is situated in the first house: taking initiative in interacting with others.
Twin B also has Venus quincunx Ascendent: the embedded tension of this aspect led her to mask her identity when she was young, she really needed to be liked. Twin B also has Lilith (Dark Moon = hidden side from where shame arises) on the cusp of her fifth house: making her eearlier in life be ashamed of being different. Lilith is also trine her North Node in het twelfth house house, steering her in the direction of spirituality. Also het Lilith is sextile Pars Fortunae in the first house which shows she loves actively engaging others in her spiritual breath work.
Both twins A and B have Moon (ruler fourth house which symbolizes the chest!) trine Jupiter (growth and optimism), sextile Chiron on cusp 3 (house of the lungs and breathing, as well as dealings with siblings and elementary school). The twins didn’t get along very well in early life. Twin A’s Chiron is 2 degrees removed from cusp 3 in the second house so its influence is felt in house 2 as well (making not having enough material security and wealth feel shameful and painful)
Only twin B has Moon sextile Ascendant. She is very passionate and outspoken and about her beliefs and feelings.
Twin A like her sister has Pluto in Scorpio, but in the sixth house ruled by Virgo. She is a worrier and a very hard and dedicated worker which contributed to her success as a business women (but was also detriment to her health). Twin B has Pluto in Scorpio on the cusp of her seventh house and tends to have partners who are domineering.
Twin A has five and twin B four, planets in the sixth house (house of work and health) ruled by Virgo (related to the 6th house) which puts a focus on work and health issues. Twin A has health problems aggrevated by her non-stop working ethic, while Twin A focus has come to lie on health through her breath-work.
Interesting how just a few minutes can make a big difference in the lives of identical twins!
